Learn More About the ALBAT Transmission Technician Apprenticeship Program
Throughout their apprenticeship, Apprentices in the American Line Builders Apprenticeship Training (ALBAT) program are able to earn while they learn, meaning that they get paid while having on-the-job experience in their field of study.
While working toward completing their ALBAT apprenticeship, students are required to attend mandatory related training classes, complete course material and attend several certification and qualification training courses. The training they receive enhance their opportunity for success in the outside electrical construction industry.
Transmission Technicians deal directly with all aspects of transmission work.
Transmission Technician Apprentice will develop skills through employment in the following areas:
Foundations
Installing foundations and grillage type footing, all digging, rebar construction, utility location, grade computations, and forming and pouring and finishing on concrete installations
Pole Setting and Framing
Digging, setting to proper depth and framing of wood type structures, guying and grounding
Stringing of Conductor
Stringing of conductor, both bundles and single along with splicing of conductor
Clipping In and Termination Conductor
Clipping in conductor, insulator supports on both wood and steel structures, dead end/termination of conductors
Steel Layout, Pre Assembly and Erection of Steel
Steel layout in preassembly area and erection of steel structures including shake down, final torque of fasteners, installation of insulators and wire stringing rollers and equipment
